I'm not having issues on my end.
David Francisco
20:41
no audio issues here
AKirk

it's choppy for me too

Do you mean the 2nd semester of the second year of instruction, though? When it says complete "a" second level of LOTE - couldn't this mean complete the first semester only of the second year of foreign language.
Laura Macchia Amescua
47:26
Yes, 2nd semester of the 2nd level of HS instruction is what must be passed with a C (C-) or better grade.
T
49:45
could you repeat that about Critical thinking and AP scores
Laura Macchia Amescua
50:27
No AP exam or score will meet Area 1B/Critical Thinking.

for the international students (english is not the language of instruction). afterwe get their official transcript, what do we do?
Laura Macchia Amescua
51:27
For international students whose LOI was not English, you should review the transcript to determine that the LOI courses were completed with the equivalent of C or better grades. If you, you can satisfy Area 6A.
Mai Her
53:48
If the student takes the AP Language & Comp and passes with minimum score of 3 but also takes the equivalent CCC English course, which one should be certified on the IGETC since it is duplicate credits in nature? The AP exam since it was taken first or the CCC English course?
kk024
53:50
for example. a chinese student studys chinese and english. he can be exempted to take foriegn language only if he passes English with a C.
Casey Orr
54:27
I thought classes could come from any regionally accredited instituiton (since when does it have to be in the U.S.)?
Laura Macchia Amescua
55:13
A student with a 3 on AP English and the Intro Compostion course that also meets Area 1A: the CCC can choose how they want to certify IGETC.
Krystle Bybee
55:43
Can a student use IGETC if they were not eligible for full/partial certification at the time of enrollment at a UC or would they be held to the UC campus GE? Example: a student is missing 4 requirements when they transfer; could they transfer UC courses back to the CCC to obtain partial/full certification? (Or take CCC courses in summer and send partial/full certification at a later time?)
Laura Macchia Amescua
56:06
A student whose LOI was Chinese would need to have passed their Chinese courses in 6th grade or higher with the equivalent of C grades in order for you to use that LOI to meet Area 6A.
Casey Orr
57:04
Nevermind...that answered what I asked before. That's what I thought.
Laura Macchia Amescua
57:18
Students must meet the requirements for IGETC or partial IGETC certification PRIOR TO enrolling at the UC. If they were missing more than 2 IGETC courses when they entered UC, they are required to fulfill that campus's G.E. requirements.
Krystle Bybee
57:54
Thank you, Laura.

01:01:22
Could you clarify, the third box top row, if a CCC has determined a NON-CCC coursework as IGETC certifiable, what do you mean the course may/maynot transfer to the UC...if the student is certiified as IGETC, wouldn't that mean that they've met the UC general ed for that area?
Maristella Bacod - SCC
01:01:35
If students are using international coursework to satisfy Area 6, will they need to submit official transcripts to the UC? Or is this not required if students submit transcripts to the CCC and we certify IGETC? Thank you.
Laura Macchia Amescua
01:02:56
Transferability is determined by UC at the time of application review. No campus asks for IGETC certification during the transfer selection process. Therefore, it is possible that a campus will determine that a course is not transferable, but a CCC might later use that course for IGETC certification.
aoseguera
01:02:59
yes
Laura Macchia Amescua
01:03:48
UC does not certify IGETC; that is the CCC's responsibility. So, international transcripts used to satisfy Area 6A would be submitted to the CCC, not UC.
T
01:05:52
Laura - if at the time that the student applies, the non CCC coursework is deemed not UC transferrable, but the student is IGETC certified, at the time of graduation, will the UC grant the student as having completed lower division GEN ED?
Laura Macchia Amescua
01:07:08
UC will honor the IGETC, even if a course that UC deemed to be non-transferable was used to certify IGETC. If the non-transferable course was English or Math, however, it's unlikely that the student would have been admitted in the first place.
Casey Orr
01:08:07
There is no Area 6A according to IGETC Standards, only Area 6 with different options available to meet that Area.
Laura Macchia Amescua
01:08:56
Area 6 and Area 6A are the same; it may be that the number changed from 6A ot 6 at some point. They are interchangeable.
Yolanda
01:09:18
will you provide the powerpoint?
Laura Macchia Amescua
01:09:49
The PPT will be available in the UC Toolbox on the Transfer Counselor Website later this week or early next week.

How does a student indicate partial igetc certification on their application or communicate that information to the UC
Daniel Valdivia
01:11:33
In one of the first slides you said IGETC satisfies “most” or all LD GE requirements at the UC campus? Why "most"?
T
01:13:59
how many AP exams can a student apply to IGETC
cnafziger
01:14:03
Thank you for these webinars!!
Laura Macchia Amescua
01:15:41
There is no limit to the number of AP exams that can be applied to IGETC, but each exam will only satisfy one course.
T
01:16:07
how does the UC system look at gen ed taken at a CSU or UC..
T
01:16:56
you mentioned that if a student is trying to return to the original UC, IGETC is not appropriate, but what if the student attended UCR took some gen ed, went to the CCC and then wants to transfer to another UC
Laura Macchia Amescua
01:16:57
UC does not accept the CSU G.E. pattern to meet UC G.E. requirements. Students who completed UC G.E. requirements prior to transferring to another UC can earn UC reciprocity to meet the new campus's GE;s.
Laura Macchia Amescua
01:17:18
IGETC is acceptable for students transferring from one UC to another.
